Products from Devon Bank

Devon Bank

Home Financing

Available in: 34 states

Murabaha (installment sale) and Ijara (lease) home financing from Devon Bank, a Chicago community bank running faith-based programs since 2003 across 34 states. In the Murabaha, the bank buys the home and resells it to you at a disclosed markup repaid in fixed installments - title is in your name at closing, there is no promissory note, and the balance never compounds. Rate-and-term and cash-out Islamic refinancing are available alongside purchases, and Devon also offers Islamic commercial financing. Pricing arrives only through an individual quote; the bank's stated policy is no premium for religious accommodation.

Devon Bank

Construction Financing

Available in: Illinois only

Shariah-compliant construction financing from Devon Bank's faith-based commercial program, running since 2003. The bank openly notes that compliant construction finance is difficult and engineers each deal from a menu of methods it has used rather than a one-size product. It funds ground-up builds and renovations for businesses and community facilities - Devon has financed churches, synagogues, mosques, a Buddhist temple, social service agencies, and subsidized-housing developers. All products are available in Illinois, with selected availability in other states.

Devon Bank

Commercial Real Estate Financing

Available in: Illinois only

Commercial murabaha and ijara real estate financing for acquisitions, expansions, and refinances from Devon Bank, the Chicago community bank (founded 1945, FDIC-designated Minority Depository Institution) that has run faith-based commercial financing since 2003. Covers office, retail, and industrial property alongside religious and community facilities, with financing from $250,000 to $5,000,000 per our records. The bank's FAQ states the substance plainly: unlike a lender, it must own the property financed and bear certain risks. All products available in Illinois; selected availability elsewhere.

Devon Bank

Secured Line of Credit

Available in: Illinois only

A real-estate-backed, Shariah-compliant line of credit built on Devon Bank's ijara transaction form, offered on a revolving, non-revolving, balloon, or diminishing basis. Qualification requires real estate equity and sufficient cash flow, and the line is available in any state where Devon can offer an ijara transaction (all products available in Illinois). The same commercial team also arranges Shariah-compliant standby and documentary letters of credit. Part of a faith-based commercial program running since 2003 inside a locally owned, FDIC-member Chicago bank.

Devon Bank

Equipment Financing

Available in: Illinois only

Murabaha financing for business equipment and trade goods from Devon Bank, the Chicago community bank (founded 1945, FDIC-designated Minority Depository Institution) that has run one of the longest-standing faith-based commercial programs in the US since 2003. The bank buys the asset and resells it at a fixed, disclosed markup paid in installments; businesses with recurring purchases can use a Murabaha Guidance Line that aggregates smaller transactions under one pre-approved limit. All products are available in Illinois, with selected availability in other states, and the locally owned bank can individually tailor structures.

How to use this comparison: HalalWallet is an independent educational comparison platform - by design, we do not provide financial, legal, or religious advice. We do the research homework so your final checks are quick and personal.

Product structures and Shariah oversight vary by provider, so finish with three built-in steps:

  • Confirm current terms and halal compliance directly with the provider - their quote is final.
  • Review the contract structure (Murabaha, Ijara, Musharakah, etc.) and any disclosed Shariah board opinions.
  • Bring your shortlist to a qualified Islamic finance advisor or scholar, so the conversation is about your situation, not the basics.

A real halal bank you can walk into

Having a physical bank you can walk into for halal banking - that's rare. Devon Bank on Devon Ave in Chicago has been serving our community forever. My accounts are FDIC insured and interest-free. What more could you want?

No interest on my checking - that's why I'm here

I bank here because it's one of the only places where my checking account doesn't generate interest. The online banking is basic compared to Chase or whoever but that's not why I'm here.

Everything under one halal roof

Used Devon for home financing. The process was fine - nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. Having everything under one roof (banking + mortgage) at a halal bank is convenient.
