Halal Transparency Score

A 0–10 index measuring how much compliance-related information a halal investment provider publicly discloses. This is not a religious ruling — it is a transparency tool.

What the Halal Transparency Score measures

The Halal Transparency Score combines four publicly observable signals into a single number. Each component is scored from 0 to 2.5 points, for a maximum total of 10. The score rewards providers who are transparent about their compliance practices — not providers who are necessarily “more halal” than others.

Important disclaimer

HalalWallet does not issue religious rulings (fatawa). The Halal Transparency Score reflects publicly available disclosures only. Always consult with qualified Islamic scholars or Shariah advisors for guidance specific to your situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Halal Transparency Score a religious ruling?
No. The Halal Transparency Score is a transparency index, not a fatwa or religious endorsement. It measures how much compliance-related information a provider publicly discloses. It does not determine whether a product is halal or haram — only qualified Islamic scholars can make that determination.
How often is the score updated?
Scores are recalculated whenever we update our provider database. We review provider disclosures quarterly and update data as new information becomes available.
Can a provider improve their score?
Yes. Providers who publish more compliance-related information — such as their screening methodology, Shariah board composition, fee schedules, and audit reports — will naturally score higher. Providers can contact us to update their information.
Why does a high-scoring provider not guarantee halal compliance?
A high score indicates that a provider is transparent about their compliance practices. Transparency and actual compliance are different things. A provider could disclose everything and still have products that a particular scholar disagrees with. Always verify compliance with your own trusted scholars or advisors.
What does 'confidence' mean in the score breakdown?
Confidence indicates how many of the four scoring components have available data. 'High' confidence means all four components have data. 'Medium' means two or three do. 'Low' means only zero or one component has data. Lower confidence scores should be interpreted with more caution.
