How halal car financing works with any dealership
Get pre-approved with a provider that serves your state, then shop. Under a Murabaha the provider buys the car at the dealer's cash price and sells it to you at a disclosed markup paid in installments; under an Ijara the provider owns the car and leases it to you with ownership transferring at the end. In both cases the dealer is paid in full at delivery, so dealers treat you like a cash buyer.
Because the provider holds or transfers title, registration and sales-tax handling vary by state. Ask the provider how title is recorded where you live and whether any tax is charged twice.
Next steps
- Pick your state in the finder, or let it detect your state and correct it if needed.
- Open your state page for every product, published terms, and reviews.
- Model the deal in the halal auto financing calculator against a conventional loan.
- Read is dealership financing haram? before you accept a manufacturer offer.

How to use this comparison: Scholars rule; we organize the evidence. HalalWallet is an independent educational comparison platform - by design, we do not issue fatwas or provide financial, legal, or tax advice. We do the research homework so your final checks are quick and personal. Where our role ends and who takes over.
Product structures and Shariah oversight vary by provider, so finish with three built-in steps:
- Confirm current terms and halal compliance directly with the provider - their quote is final.
- Review the contract structure (Murabaha, Ijara, Musharakah, etc.) and any disclosed Shariah board opinions.
- Bring your shortlist to a qualified Islamic finance advisor or scholar, so the conversation is about your situation, not the basics.
