Sammy Khalil
Financial Advisor, QPFC · Shariah-screened portfolios & 401(k) plans
Most halal investing options serve individuals only. I work at both levels: adding Shariah-compliant options to a company 401(k), and building screened portfolios for individuals that are coordinated with their tax and retirement planning.
Sammy Khalil is a Financial Advisor with Wells Fargo Advisors in Orange County, California, and a Qualified Plan Financial Consultant (QPFC), the retirement-plan credential awarded by the National Association of Plan Advisors. He helps families and business owners bring investments, retirement income, and taxes into one plan, coordinated with their CPA and attorney.
For Muslim clients, that plan is built on screened investments. Sammy builds Shariah-screened portfolios for individuals, including direct indexing that pairs a published Shariah screen with tax-loss harvesting for taxable accounts of $250,000 or more, and helps employees with old 401(k)s that offer no halal options. For business owners, he reviews existing company 401(k) plans at no cost and works to add Shariah-compliant choices to the investment menu, with benchmarking, plan advisor searches, and RFP support for plan committees.
He came to advising after years working closely with business owners, and serves clients in person across Anaheim, Garden Grove, Irvine, Santa Ana, and the rest of Orange County. The first conversation carries no cost or obligation.

In Sammy's words: "I don't make my own Shariah rulings. Instead, I rely on the independent oversight of the funds and indexes I use. The Shariah-compliant mutual funds and ETFs I recommend follow published screening methodologies and are overseen by their own Shariah advisory boards, which review holdings on a regular schedule. For direct indexing, portfolios are screened against a published Shariah methodology covering business activities and financial ratios, and holdings are replaced when a company no longer meets the screen.
Before a client invests, I share each strategy's screening methodology so they can review it with their own imam or scholar. I also help clients identify impermissible income, such as small amounts of interest or non-compliant revenue, so they can purify it. I don't offer financing or interest-based contracts; my work is limited to screened investments and retirement plans."

Wells Fargo Advisors does not certify investments as Shariah-compliant, and screening standards vary by provider. Wells Fargo Advisors does not provide tax or legal advice. The QPFC credential is awarded by NAPA and does not by itself make an advisor a fiduciary to a retirement plan; whether Wells Fargo Advisors serves a plan in a fiduciary capacity depends on the services and agreement selected. Investment and insurance products are not FDIC insured, are not bank deposits or obligations, and are subject to investment risk including possible loss of principal. Initial reviews and consultations are offered at no cost and with no obligation; applicable fees are explained before any account is opened. Sammy's public Wells Fargo Advisors profile does not reference Shariah screening; the halal services described here are from his own submission to HalalWallet.
